Re:
Shoreline
Dear Unit Owner(s):
The State of New Hampshire Shoreline Protection Act RSA 483-8 was enacted a decade ago in order to protect lakes like ours from death by fertilization and sedimentation. The holes that some owners have cut into the shoreline buffer in order to maintain personal canoe launch areas have increased the sedimentation and violated the Shoreland Protection laws. The Department of Environmental Services warned Ken Ryder, ECA General Manager, during the last inspection that the damage to our shoreline must be stopped and remedial repairs made. If the abuse continues, our Association will be faced with multiple fines in addition to our long range maintenance program being jeopardized.
The Association has the authority to turn around and pass these fines and remedial requirements on to the offenders; however, the Association will undertake the restoration of the buffer this time. We would like everyone’s cooperation and assurance that in the future they will either acquire one of the legal spots on the canoe racks and use it, or carry their canoe over to the appropriate launching areas legally provided. Future violators will face the following maximum penalties:
a.)
$100 fine assessed to the canoe /raft owner;
b.)
Boat will be removed from the water and the owner will be responsible for all storage fees;
c.)
Owner will be responsible for the cost to restore the damaged area;
d.)
Owner will be responsible for any and all fees associated with the illegal launching of a canoe/boat, including but not limited to fines imposed by the Eastman Community Association, State of NH, and/or Town of Grantham.
The ECA will also be installing an additional launch area as you enter the fire lane to assist us in properly maintaining the shoreline.
This is your home, your shoreline, please protect and respect it.
Thank you for your cooperation---West Cove “A” Board of Directors
